To Thong or Not to Thong

I have been invited, and accepted invitation, to a Bridal Shower. I have hung with said Bride 2 Be twice. She seems intelligent and sassy and fun. Her Future Hubby is a school friend of my betrothed. He seems equally funny and interesting and not at all an asshole. As a couple, they are all the things I would want in a new set of friends if I had time to incorporate new peeps into my life. I don't even get to see the peeps I already have!

But, back to Bridal Shower woes 2008. Since I don't really know her, I can't secure the obligatory crotchless panties and nipple pasties. I am stuck. I don't want to cop out and get a wedding gift off the registry. Likewise, I don't want to spend $50 on her shower gift if we still have to get a wedding present. So...what gift do you buy a Bride if you don't know if she is more black lace or pink ruffles? Tradition be dammed...I need some ideas.

Who will save the day?

It occurred to me yesterday morning that McCain/Palin have a real shot at winning in 49 days. I thought the SNL parody of Palin and Clinton was brilliant and hilarious. It used broad-sweeping metaphor and satire to characterize both women. What I am hearing on the tube is that those that liked Palin like her even more after Tina Fey made a farce of her comments and rhetoric. But more frightening than that is this: some women who may have been on the fence are now Palin-ites! Whoa. Scary.

I don't think I can take 4 more years of a conservative administration. I am not positive that I could stomach it. Who will dig us out? I don't think Obama can save us from ourselves, but I am hoping that he can begin the repair.

Where there is friendship, there is Scrabble

I am not sure how to begin stamping out this blog. I am assured that only a smattering of friends and family will even care about what I post. But, I open with an olive branch to a few, more seasoned, bloggers in my crew.

While others here will lure you with awesome Scrabble scores, I submit this board as evidence of a past game. It was a light game, played with no less than a bottle of red zin.

Back to "The Blog":

How in the heck do you get this ball rolling? How much and how true should you be when all the world can access your words?

Should one go commando while blogging or maintain a little mystery?
